Did you know you are destined for greatness?

Did you know you are destined for greatness?

I once read that only 2% of the population are the inventors and innovators. The Steve Jobs. The Bill Gates. The Alexander Graham Bells. The Thomas Edisons. Did you know you are destined for greatness? Reading that made me sad because I truly believe we are all destined for greatness.

Psalm 139:13-18 (NLT) You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand. And when I wake up, you are still with me!

In the last few weeks, God has been showing me something.

The greats of history aren’t somehow more talented than you or me.

You see, they aren’t any more special than you or me.

In fact, God has placed each and every one of us on this earth for a special purpose and a special reason.

No, I’m not going to be the next Bill Gates and you probably aren’t either, but God has a purpose and reason for placing you on this earth.

You have greatness on the inside of you. You are destined for greatness!

Your greatness might not make you famous. (Or maybe it will!)

But it’s your greatness, nonetheless.

Maybe you’re a wife and a Mom. Maybe that’s what you’ll always be. Don’t let anyone else tell you that isn’t enough. But you are still destined for greatness. You are destined to be a great Mom.

What’s holding you back?

Often we hold ourselves back from really living out what God has placed us here for.

We could be held back by

1. Fear

Do you have an idea, but you are afraid it won’t work out, so you don’t even try?

2. Not believing we have what it takes

No one ever started something new knowing exactly how to do that thing. For example, when I started this blog, I had no idea about plug-ins, mailing lists, or any coding. If I had let that stop me, ( and I almost did) I wouldn’t have a functioning blog. If I let that stop me right now, I would pull the plug multiple times a month because there are always things I don’t know.

3. Not wanting to rock the boat.

I don’t know how many times I’ve not done something because I just really wanted to fit in with everyone else. I’m sure people thought Alexander Graham Bell was crazy when he was trying to invent the telephone.

4. Being like everyone else.

If all we do all the time is watch the latest tv shows and listen to the latest music, we won’t do anything that’s different than everyone else.

Am I saying that you are supposed to be an inventor?

No, I’m not, but what I am saying is that if you have an idea, it’s worth trying.

This blog doesn’t run itself. I get up early and work on it before my kids get up around 4 to 5 times a week. I stay up late after they go to bed about the same amount of time. What drives me is the desire to write the words that God has given me to write.

“I wonder what would happen if I didn’t give up.”

In Conclusion

I don’t know what the future holds for my writing.

Maybe I’ll write books one day.

Maybe I’ll become a freelancer.

Maybe I won’t, but I do know this one thing- “I’ll never know if I give up!”

So, today, I want to encourage you. You are destined for greatness.

I don’t know what the reason is, but there is a reason God placed you on this earth. I’m willing to bet that there is more than one reason and that you will fill different roles throughout different times of your life.

God didn’t make a mistake.

He created you for a purpose. A very special and wonderful purpose.

Don’t let fear or lack of belief in yourself, stop you.
